The Chariot has different meanings when interpreted upright as it does reversed (upside down, not the same as face down).

In the original Rider-Waite tarot deck, The Chariot card illustrates a powerful looking figure, adorned with a crown sitting in a chariot which is pulled by two sphinxes.

The figure looks noble, determined and focused. In addition to his crown, he holds a scepter in his right hand.

He wears beautiful armor, adorned with lunar faces upon each shoulder.

The sphinxes, one black, and one white, appear to be pulling in opposite directions.

The sphinxes are controlled even without the use of reigns, through terrain that appears to be unpredictable and uneven.
