    The Tower Card Meaning

The Tower Card in tarot represents extreme tear down, change or abrupt choas. Despite the sound of it, The Tower can and almost always is necessary for healing.

A tall tower being struck by lightening tumbling down in a storm depicted on a tarot card.

In tarot, The Tower is representative of times of complete revolution and overthrow.

    Element: Fire (Aries).

The Tower is ruled by the planet Mars.

This card has different meanings when interpreted upright as it does reversed (upside down, not the same as face down).

    UprightReversed
Momentous change. Upheaval. Game-changing change. Looming crisis.

    Meaning of the Number 16

The Tower card in tarot, is numbered 16 in the Major Arcana.

The number 16, in numerology, reduces to 7 (1+6=7).

Now, the number 7 can be evaluated as a lucky number, per say.

Even though The Tower can seem frightening, it's often for our highest good, and necessary for better things to come.

The number 7 correlates with improvements via luck, opportunities or faith.

7's can assure us that improvements in situations are right around the corner.

Turning points, possibilities and opportunities are knocking.

Like other odd numbers, the number 7 is a masculine number.

    The Tower Card Description

In the original Rider-Waite tarot deck, The Tower card illustrates literally, a tall tower being struck by a bolt or multiple bolts of lightening.

Flames and smoke burst through the windows.

People are shown falling from the tower to escape the destruction within.

Tip in a reading: When pulling this card, be aware of the overall energy of the surrounding cards to interpret it.
